Visualize an athlete. When we think of performance in terms of athletes we might imagine an already skilled athlete striving to improve the outcome of their game - trying to become a better, elite or even world-class athlete. The great coaches of these individuals are working with them well beyond skill development, they work on performance influencers. Here's what they know:
If you master everything that influences performance you will master performance - and in so doing you will master your game
Go ahead read it again, it's irrefutable! Nothing is more true. Logic states "if A then B, if B then C therefore if A then C". For fun just replace the word "master" with "improve" and read it again. Okay, the equation is not important but the philosophy is... we must focus on what influences performance if we want to master anything.
The same philosophies for athletes apply to every aspect of life. If we want to become better we need to improve our performance from all angles - we can never realize our highest potential by focusing only on skill development.
When should I seek Performance Coaching?
How often do you know you are capable but for some reason your engine continues to sputter? You look for internal and external explanations for the gaps in your abilities versus your performance. There ARE explanations but they're often different than what you thought was stopping you. Performance coaching helps people understand their motivations and overcome the blocks that are impeding top performance.
Sometimes our wheels may need alignment and other times our engine may need an overhaul; and yet at other times we might just need some performance tweaks. Do a quick dive and start with these questions. Go a step further and ask yourself what am I capable of?
How am I performing at work?
How am I showing up at home?
How engaged and present am I socially?
How much impact and influence do I have in what's important to me?
Do I feel like I'm wearing a mask?
ESSE's Approach to Performance Coaching
In the days of the Roman Empire "All Roads Lead to Rome" held a literal truth because Rome was the center of all things. Today this proverb represents that there are many ways to achieve a given result. ESSE begins with a consultative approach seeking to understand each person as an individual and then help to create clarity to their own goals and vision. Our goal is to help you acheive transformative and lasting results in the least amount of time.
A Sampling of our Favorites Tools
Since each person's goals are different there is no one size fits all to our individual coaching programs. Below are just a small sampling of tools that we LOVE and find exceptionally useful in garnering the results that most people are seeking.
ELI Assessment: Helps you and your coach get a clear understanding of your general approach to leadership under normal circumstances and when under stress. Our favorite baseline tool!
I Exam: Customized assessment that enables your coach to gain more clarity of your world experiences and perspective as well as understand what is available in your currently field of vision. This tool is excellent for bridging gaps in communication.
SCOPE Assessment: This is a one of a kind tool that provides a tangible measurement of how you are approaching a particular task or event.
Values Assessment: This assessment is a favorite. This helps create reasoning and validity to your "hot buttons" and reactive responses as well as providing the basis for your motivations and desires
